Based on the theme of this year’s festival “Back to the Future”, the young Austrian choreographer Simon Mayer joins the participants to explore the subject of “legacy” with regard to one’s own body: what memories and habits are manifested in our posture, movements and gestures? The conscious confrontation with this topic allows us to free ourselves from blocks and unwanted legacies. In some cases, traditional forms of dance and music are used that have often been forgotten today, in order to create a contemporary awareness of one’s own body. Exercises in perception, for example attentive observation and listening, on the one hand, and pleasurable improvisation with one’s body and voice, on the other, not only enable entertaining experiences of the self, but also offer a playful approach to the aesthetic devices of contemporary dance performances.

Hosted by Simon Mayer
