After the concert at the festival centre DJ Friendly Galaxy (AT)
The three Scottish musicians with roots in Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria and the USA met at the age of fourteen at a youth club in Edinburgh and have been working together ever since on a very individual interpretation of hip hop. Their musical influences are many and diverse, the trio knows practically no boundaries of style and condenses the historical threads of soul, rap, dub, rave and R’n’B to create contemporary pop music – uncompromising and avant-garde, while also accessible. “White Men Are Black Men Too” is the title of their latest album, following the British Mercury Prize-winning “Dead”. The Young Fathers’ lyrics are smart, provocative and political and their live performances are more than energetic.
